Chester Community Watersport Hub is an exciting new partnership project to create a new multi-sports facility on Chester’s River Dee for the benefit of the wider community. There are many partners involved including Queens Park High School, Queen’s Park High School Rowing Club, Deva Canoe Club, Chester Riverside Canoe Club, Cheshire Scouting Association and Royal Chester Rowing Club. The project is supported by Cheshire West and Chester Council, Chester Growth Partnership, Active Cheshire, British Rowing and British Canoeing. As part of the project a new Cheshire Youth Watersports Partnership has also been set up to provide new opportunities for schools and young people to participate in watersports. The project will not only provide a new home for the canoeing and rowing clubs listed above, it will also provide a programme of activity during the day for people who are new to canoeing, kayaking and rowing.
A planning application was submitted in November 2016 and was considered and approved by the Council’s Planning Committee on 4th April 2017.
